Introduction:Corneal PDT is a safe and effective procedure in children Methods:: Children with age ranging from 0 -14 years with corneal neovascularization, in which other procedures had failed, were treated in the last 5 years with PDT with verteporfin. Cases included neovascularization in cronic allergic keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, dry eye syndrome, corneal graft failure, post-traumatic injury and in preparation of keratoplasty. The treatment is focal and does not affect healthy cornea. Results:Treatment allowed a significant reduction of photophobia and pain. Conclusion:PDT administered early and, if necessary, repeated in children, performed after other more aggressive therapies had failed, reduced corneal neovascularization.
